Extend Hangtown Haven
By Letters to the Editor
My wife and I had the opportunity to give blankets, towels and face cloths to the homeless at Hangtown Haven recently. We were very impressed with the cleanliness of the camp, the organization of the facility, and the positive attitudes of the homeless.
Also, as a veteran (23 years in the U.S. Naval Reserve), I became aware that many of the inhabitants of the Haven were veterans as well. Then I realized that they had fought in many wars overseas to keep us safe at home, and now were homeless.
The city of Placerville is to be congratulated for providing the shelter of Hangtown Haven. We hope that they will extend the facility beyond the year that they have currently provided. The shelter does give the homeless the opportunity to get back on their feet.
